Friday Loves

It's been a long time since I've done a "Friday" linkup. I always forget about these or don't have time, but I guess I'm on a link-up roll this week. Don't get used to it though ;-)

My favorites this Friday.....

Remy is becoming more camera-friendly! I've even gotten her to pose for me and COOPERATE!! I thought this day would never come, especially after last Easter's infamous planking during family picture time! She was rocking this side braid at school yesterday!

Rylie and I are going on a Girl Scout leader/daughter weekend camping today and above is all the packing I've done so far! Ha! We have to pack all our towels and bedding that we'll need which I'm not used to doing, so I've been a little stressed getting it all together. I hate the packing/unpacking process of trips, but SO excited for our weekend ahead! (And yes I'm a princess and need 2 pillows for camping)

Our book club started back this month and we kicked off with Still Alice, a book about a 50-year-old college professor diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's. The movie comes out next week in Houston and I cannot wait to see it! I had no idea Alzheimer's works the way it does and learned a lot from reading this book. Of course my book club friends and I are all scared we have it every time we forget something now!  I pray they find a cure to this someday!

I'm so excited I just ordered these Chooka rain boots from DSW and cannot wait for them to arrive! I've never had rain boots and I thought I would need some for camping this weekend so I looked around online and fell in love with these teal ones. No stores had them in stock so I had to order them and turns out the rain chance diminished for this weekend so I wouldn't have needed them after all, but I'll use these a LOT when they do arrive and I'll never outgrow them. So I justified one fun splurge!

This show just started back and while I was hesitant to watch (Kate drove me crazy the last time it was on), I gave it a chance. The first episode was their trip to Maine, so of course I had to watch! Kate was kind of annoying in that episode, freaking out over everything. I just wanted to tell her to chill out. But the next episodes were good. You gotta give the girl credit for raising 8 kids! I've started thinking about that during my days....."what if I had 8 kids right now?" Yikes! I would probably act like Kate if I had 8 kids too. And she's better than she was years ago. But one of the twins.....oh my gosh I want to smack her. I dread those teenage years!!!!

Thanks for stopping by! Hope your Friday is fabulous!

Gymnastics Return!

I've been under the weather a little since Saturday night with allergies. Sunday I spent the day in bed and a sweet neighbor brought me get-well goodies!

Homemade soup, crackers, bag of fruit, cough drops, tissues, cup, tea bags, shower soother, emergen-c.....SO AWESOME!! I'm feeling a lot better today and I think the soup had a lot to do with that! So thankful!

So Remy's been waiting since LAST MAY to return to her beloved gymnastics class and yesterday was finally the day! We always take a break from extra-curriculars over the Summer and I spent the Fall trying to potty-train her so she could move up to the 3 year old class. Then Mommy just got busy over December and January. Everyday though, we'd drive by her gymnastics place and she'd ask when she could go back! She went to bed Sunday night asking "tomorrow I go to my nastics?" I told her yes after taking Rylie to school. She put her leotard on at 7:30am and asked me every 2 minutes until it was time to leave at 10am!

Waiting......and attempting to be patient

I had to get video of me telling her it was time to go!

Finally there! She's in a new class now where I sit and watch, so I had lots of talks to prepare her for that and she did SO GOOD!

She looked so grown up out there without me! :'(

She even volunteered to demonstrate a "handstand" in front of her class! (Really an older girl volunteered first, then Remy jumped up and said "I'll do it!" So cute!)

She only got a little timid on the high beam and said "I'm gonna fall!" But teacher was great with her and she stuck it out.

Overall, she had a great first class. She was a little overwhelmed being back after so long and didn't remember a few moves but I wrote them down to practice at home. She got lost a few times doing obstacle courses and the teachers had to keep telling her which station was next lol but over time she'll have that down. So glad to get her back to her "nastics" and how cute was her new purple leotard she got for Christmast?! :)

Show Me The Love Valentine Special

Valentine's Day for us is just a fun holiday to give us something to look forward to after Christmas leaves our house and is a good excuse to give goodies to our friends and make crafts for! I've always done little goodies for Rylie and Remy's friends at preschool or Kindermusik or gymnastics or dance....whatever! I also challenge myself to try my hardest to make them candy-free. We just get a TON of candy between Halloween and Christmas and after New Year's I'm ready to toss it all out and not see any more until Easter! lol So here are some of the things I've done in the past with a sneak peek into what I'm doing for this year's Valentine's Day. I'm linking up with Lyndsey Lofland for Show Me The Love blog linkup!

A few years ago, I made these for Rylie's pre-k class! The teachers complimented me on giving something healthy!

You could also use these tags on applesauce cups for younger ages!

I made these for Remy's Kindermusik buddies before she started preschool. The tag was two-sided.

Oh yeah....I went there. lol

I made these for Rylie's dance friends a couple years ago too. I got this idea of Pinterest somewhere, I don't remember who actually created it, but I made my own.

And these are what I gave both girls' school teachers the past 2 years.

Little Caesar's pizza giftcard. Because I'm sure they got enough chocolate from the other students!

And if the girls have school on a holiday, I like to make their lunches fun too! (And again, trying to do candy-free and limiting food coloring)

Can't go wrong with festive shapes and colorful containers!

And here's a look at what we're doing this year!

The teacher gifts.....

Bath and Body Works hand soap with giftcard

And Remy's preschool class will get these....

With a tag that says "I like you Berry much" and a Strawberry Shortcake Valentine card.

And Rylie insisted she just wanted to give her school friends Valentine pencils, so that's what I got for her. Course I can't resist putting a tag like this on them ;-)

Family Photos 2014

I totally forgot to post the rest of our photos from our session last Fall. I wanted to wait until after posting the Christmas card, then never came back to post the rest! So here they are!
