5 on Friday

It's Friday!!! Can I get an amen??!!

Here's my 5 on Friday linking up with The Good Life.

One.

Remy started gymnastics on Wednesday! She looked so cute in her leotard her uncle Daniel gave her for her birthday. {Notice Rylie's ponytail holders on her wrists? She thinks they're bracelets and is obsessed with them!}

Not sure if you can tell, but she's hanging on this bar like that-not touching the ground.

"Swimming" across the foam block pit!

She was a NATURAL! So excited for this new experience with her!

Two.

I've spent the past few weeks getting all this ready for the Just Between Friends sale in our area! LOTS of work went into this: 84 tags were priced, printed, and pinned, countless rubberbands and hangers and safety pins and stabbings from safety pins lol I hope it all sells! I dropped it off last night and get to shop the presale with friends today!

Three.

My next projects are Rylie's birthday party supplies! My friend Erin started her own business with her might machine silhouette and makes INCREDIBLE things! She has made Rylie's birthday banner, cupcake wrappers, table centerpieces and decor, and the invitations for her party and they're seriously amazing! So excited to see it all put together and I'll post photos when they are.

Four.

My girls were styling this week at school! Rylie picked her outfit Tuesday-yellow shirt, lavender sweater, dark purple leggings, black shoes. And she was 100% set on her decision, so even though the ocd part of me cringed a little, I couldn't rain on her confidence parade and off to school she went with a smile! Remy successfully kept pigtails all day at preschool Tuesday!

Five.

My girls arent normal sleepers :)

HAPPY WEEKEND!!

Fall Crafts

I dont know what it is about Fall, an extremely busy time of the year getting started in the holiday season, but I apparently like to add to my busy-ness with crafts!

The Lettered Cottage is hosting Fall Crafts today, so I'm going to share my favorites from the past few years starting with a wreath I made last month!

Seriously $7. Twig wreath from Michaels was $5 and each clip on flower was $1. Easy peasy! I also bought a big M to put on later but I want to paint it first. So $11 with the M.

Last year I helped Rylie make this beautiful artwork.

It's still one of my favorites. I think I'll frame it for the mantle this year.

These are my favorite Fall crafts Rylie's made at school the past few years.

Glove filled with beans then painted like a turkey, paper plate turkey, beads on pipe cleaners and twisted to look like corn.

Two years ago, I made these turkey shirts for the girls.

It's pretty easy for the most part. I just measured the turkeys to be too big in my opinion. It's just brown fabric cut out for turkey body, ironed on with wonder under (buy at craft stores), on top of ribbon loops I just hot glued on (come on, I had a newborn at this time! I didnt have time to sew lol), then I hot glued the eye balls and I cant remember how I glued the turkey nose....fabric glue maybe? I just put these together quickly one day and they only wore them for Thanksgiving.

Three years ago I made this dress for Rylie.

It was my first real sewing project! It's far from perfect, but I loved how it turned out. It should fit Remy this Fall so I'm debating a skirt to match for Rylie with a matching pumpkin on a shirt?

And four years ago I made this turkey shirt for Rylie.

This one is SUPER easy! Just cut out turkey body shape and feather shapes from whatever fabric you want and iron it all on layer by layer with wonder under. I hadn't put the eyes on yet in this photo but you can hot glue those on as well. You can always sew along the border after to really keep the fabric on the shirt.

Fall Mantle

As I mentioned yesterday, all our Fall decor was ruined in the attic, so I havent decorated yet. But now that I'm starting over, I'm getting inspiration for what I'm wanting to do with our mantle for Fall.

Here's our mantle last year.....

And here are some beautiful Fall mantles from Pinterest!

Love the empty frames behind the decor in this one!

Love all the leaves!

Love switching candles out for pumpkins!

And I love this burlap Autumn banner!

Miscellany Monday

Last week was just not my week. Thursday thru Saturday in particular were bad. Friday night David got our Fall decor box out of the attic. I was SO excited to decorate this weekend and for Fall to start! When we opened the box, though there was a horrible smell. It was full of thick fuzzy mold and mildew. Everything was ruined, including Rylie's Thanksgiving crafts she made the past 2 years like this glove turkey......

Oh I cried. It was my fault though. Last year when I packed it away, I was sick and not paying attention. A small, real pumpkin was packed in the box and that's what caused the mold.

I'm still sick and have been since last Tuesday! Just usual crud! No stuffy nose, no fever. Just sore throat and chest congestion.

I made this yummy meatball vegetable soup last night and even the girls ate it!

Here's the recipe:
1 pkg fully cooked meatballs (12ishoz)
1 can white kidney beans (cannellini 14oz)
1 can diced tomatoes with basil and oregano (14oz)
10 oz frozen mixed veggies
1 cup dry small pasta
3 cans beef broth (14 oz ea)

Put all in pot except pasta. Bring to a boil. Then add pasta and bring back to boil. Reduce heat and simmer 10 min. Sprinkle with parsley if desired.

Seriously took 30 min to make! I got this recipe from a soup magazine. Cant remember which one.

Rylie looking so cute heading out to school this morning!

Remy eating breakfast in sister's chair! I'm thinking we're done with the highchair and going to get Remy her own booster like this. Rylie still needs hers because our table is so high up. I'm so done with cleaning a highchair! They get so dirty!

Here's to hoping we have a better week ahead! So glad Fall is officially here. Sad I have no decorations for it though.

Rylie's Bedroom and Playroom Update

When we changed Rylie's room to a "big girl" room back in 2011, I thought that's the way it would stay for awhile.

Her room with new big girl bed in 2011.

Unfortunately, Rylie's bedding set didnt hold up that well. So I finally got her a new one, but then it didnt match too well. There was just too much pink! So after some talking about it, Rylie decided she'd like to paint her room. So last year her and I did! (And I'm really bad and just got photos last week)

Her new room!

(apparently I havent mastered manual mode like I thought and the colors are a little off, but her walls are a very light, minty green!)

View from her bathroom door

She DID have light pink letters spelling her name above her bed, until a certain toddler climbed on her bed and knocked them all down!

And last year we also gave the girls a playroom again. We sold most of our "media room" items and moved some to other rooms in the house so they could have space to play.

Our "media room" after we moved in 5 years ago...

Here's their playroom now....

She has room now to actually play with her dollhouse!

This armoire was in Rylie's 1st bedroom in Waco and was stored in Mimi's house after Remy was born. So glad we saved it! It holds toys in the cabinet and drawers.

Still need to get curtains eventually, but for now I like the simple look.

That picture on the chair fell down last week. It was hanging to the right of the window. I have plans to make an "artwork" hanging area above the couch and chair eventually.

Get a good look because it never looks this clean! lol Remy has started to go here and play by herself and be perfectly content, which works great since she has an empty bedroom now with just her bed!
