Big Updates!

Rylie has been doing soooo much lately, I feel I need to write a blog everyday!

The night before last, Rylie rolled over!! The thing is, we missed it & don't know how she did it because it was while she was sleeping! haha We put her to bed like this:

And she woke up like THIS:
So we videotaped her sleeping last night.....NOTHING! I feel like I need to keep my camera on me at all times because this afternoon, Rylie held her bottle all by herself & I barely got a picture of it! She can only hold it up for a short time and only when there's not much formula left in it, but she's learning!
There's also a new video of Rylie giggling in the link on the right side!!

No Pics Trip

David, Rylie and I went to Dallas/Ft Worth area this weekend to visit my friend Erin & her husband. Erin used to work at the TV station with us & she's just so freakin awesome, we've kept in touch with her! They just redid their guest bedroom, so we ended up staying the night. Rylie was too excited to be there & seeing lots of new things & did NOT want to go to sleep. She finally wore herself out though haha And the grownups played bored games that were quite fun, especially with me not knowing what I'm doing--or that Harrison Ford was NOT in "True Lies" HAHA! On Sunday, David & me & Rylie went shopping to get her a baptism gown, which we FINALLY found after going to 4 stores. Ugh! Then we headed back home & this entire trip had nothing captured on film. :( Sad to say, no pics today!

Proud of us!

This ENTIRE past week we have eaten every meal at home & haven't gone out to eat or gotten take-out at all! We've had home-cooked meals & eaten ALL of our leftovers and this is a huuuge milestone for us! hehe Rylie sat at the table for every family dinner with us & she just loved it and giggled and "talked" to us the whole time!

OUCH!

Today Rylie got her first booboo :( Daddy clipped her fingernails because she was clawing at her belly & he nipped the end of her thumb a little. It wasn't so bad until she started sucking on her thumb while playing & made it really worse. She got blood all over her shirt, her floor play mat, and burp cloth. When I saw it, I started crying. It broke my heart to see my baby hurt, although she took it like a champ! She didn't cry at all! I was the one being dramatic. haha Well, we didn't have any cute baby bandaids, so we had to put a big one on it & boy was it a challenge all day keeping her from sucking on her thumb! I think it'll be healed in a day or 2 and then she'll be fine. Just another thing to look forward to as she gets older-more booboo's. I should get more bandaids.....

Poor little Rylie finger :(

You can kinda see the blood marks on her shirt

Rylie's Entry

I'm almost rolling over! The other day, I made it to my side and couldn't quite finish the rest of the way. Mommy helped me get on my belly then and I did real good holding myself up! It won't be long now!

Rylie's 1st Babysitter!

Last Saturday night, David took me to dinner for my birthday and Rylie got to play with Vince & Mary Erickson, her first non-family babysitter! Vince works at the station with David (sports director), they both go to our Sunday School class, and live not far from us. They've been WAITING ANXIOUSLY to watch Rylie. They enjoyed it as much as she did! She was excited all day to have visitors come play with her. hehe Anyways, we just went to eat down the street and it was the shortest dinner ever! They were very empty, so our food came immediately and we were home only an hour later! After we got home, our friends Seth (from Dave's work-morning anchor) and Shelly (I know from MCC) stopped by to visit. THEN, all Saturday night I got sick about every 15 minutes and the next morning. Not sure if it was something I ate or a virus. I stayed in bed all day Sunday and kinda took it easy today, not eating much both days. Hopefully I'm not getting something that Rylie could catch!

Distraction

Rylie's been a great distraction lately with everything. We've been bow shopping and clothes shopping and right now we're planning her baptism! I'm sooo excited that Rylie is getting more hair and can almost wear bows by themselves! More pictures are in her photo album on the side menu.

Handkerchiefs

Some of yall know a close friend of mine, Johnny, passed away last Summer on June 12 while fighting as a Marine in Iraq. Oddly, I kept thinking in the time before the funeral how I needed to get a handkerchief. I told David that I'm grown up now and I'm going to start having close friends and family pass away and I might as well get a handkerchief to have at the funerals.....but I never got one and I thought it was fine because it would be awhile before I'd actually need it again.....until now.
David, Rylie and I drove to Temple Scott & White and were able to say goodbye to Casey yesterday afternoon before she went to heaven yesterday evening. They actually don't allow children in the ICU area, but no doctor was going to keep Casey from holding Rylie 1 last time & saying goodbye, so I marched in there with Rylie in my arms & placed her on the bed next to Casey with Casey's arm around her and Rylie gave her love then kissed Casey on her forehead before I had to take her back to the waiting room with David.
Casey was my oldest friend and the sweetest girl I knew. She wasn't somebody with cerebral palsey. She wasn't a girl in a wheelchair. She wasn't even someone who was "sick." She was my best friend. She was my maid of honor. She was a daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin, grand-daughter, and just a girl. She will greatly be missed, but I know she's happy up in heaven and in no more pain. And my little girl is the luckiest baby now, because she has an angel watching over her!
Thanks everyone for your prayers and for continuously asking about Casey. Keep praying for her family now and that they regain strength to get through this. Casey would want nothing more than her family to be happy.

For those wanting to attend, services will be Wed, Jan. 9 at 11am in Valley Mills at graveside only.

Need Prayers!

I hope everyone is having a great New Years so far. A friend of mine isn't though and needs your prayers! My best (and oldest) friend Casey is in the hospital. Her mother tells me she went into shock the day after Christmas and is in ICU at Scott & White in Temple fighting for her life. David and I are going to visit her tomorrow, but her mom said she's so sedated, she won't remember us visiting. Hopefully she'll make a full recovery like she's done in the past, but please keep her in your prayers. She's been a good friend of mine for almost 12 years now and was maid of honor at our wedding. This isn't the way to start the new year for her and her family. With everyone's prayers though, I know she can make it through this!
